How it Looks Now | Proposed Expansion |
Ana and I just returned from Medjugorje June 12, and had the pleasure of meeting with the pastor of St. James Church, Dr. fra Ivan Sesar. He entrusted to us a special project to help raise funds to expand the site of the Risen Christ statue in the back of the Church. Fr. Sesar explained that this expansion was the idea of the late Fr. Slavko, and it was not possible to undertake it before his death. In his memory, the parish is embarking on this project, the purpose of which, is to provide an area for prayer groups, as well any groups to gather and pray while in Medjugorje. This is particularly a problem in Medjugorje when the size of a group spans numerous houses. There is no place for the entire group to gather in one place. This expansion will allow a quiet spot for prayer, and sharing of experiences for groups. We are excited about this project, and pray that you will be moved to help support it through your donation. We especially ask Medjugorje prayer groups to embrace this project and help in any way possible. Thank you for your generosity!! The project will be split into two phases, with the first phase being completed as shown in the illustration above. The estimated cost for Phase I is $100,000. The planned start date is the end of July, 2001. Phase II will begin immediately after the completion of Phase I, and will include an internal area to pray the Stations of the Cross. This is especially important and needed for those who can not climb Mount Krizevac to pray the Stations of the Cross. 100% of all donations will be given directly to the pastor of St. James in Medjugorje.
